How To Help

As a non-profit animal shelter, QCAWC must rely solely on donations from our generous supporters, our adoption fees and our services. Our mission is a shelter for homeless animals, to support a spaying and neutering program, and to provide humane education. You can take part in our mission by volunteering at the shelter or at our events, making a donation.

Gifts of Stocks and Bonds

Donating appreciated stocks or bonds to the Quad City Animal Welfare Center is sometimes more advantageous than gifts of cash. Here's why:

  • You avoid paying capital gains taxes when you contribute appreciated stocks or bonds directly to the QCAWC.
  • You deduct the full value of the stock or bond as a charitable contribution, saving income taxes and lowering the effective cost of your gift.
  • The full value of your gift of stocks or bonds helps the QCAWC and our life saving programs, while you receive a significant tax break.

If you are planning on giving a gift of stocks or bonds to the QCAWC please email Patti McRae at patti@qcawc.org or call 309-787-6830 ext.13.
