Forever Foster Program

At the Quad City Animal Welfare Center (QCAWC), we believe every animal deserves a loving home, no matter their age, medical condition, or behavioral needs. That’s why we’ve created the Forever Foster Program—a special initiative that allows animals with unique challenges to live with a dedicated foster family for the rest of their lives.

Meet Forever Foster Dad, Andy and his forever foster dog, Precious!

Precious faced several health challenges, including heartworm disease, TPLO surgery for a cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) rupture, and the discovery of a mast cell tumor. We knew finding her a home would be difficult, so she became a candidate for our Forever Foster Program. She hit the jackpot with her Forever Foster Dad, Andy, and now she’s able to live her best life!

"From the moment I took her home, things have been great with Precious! I was so sad to hear she was having a hard time finding a home, but it all worked out...for both of us! We go for walks every single day around the Quad Cities. She's also been to Ohio, Wisconsin and Tennessee with me. One thing I love about the forever foster program with Quad City Animal Welfare Center is they are always there for me.  Precious has a few health issues that we need to take care of.  QCAWC helps me every step of the way and takes care of her vet bills whenever they come up.  I focus on spoiling her with walks, love, kisses and treats - lots of treats!" - Foster Dad, Andy.

What is a Forever Foster?

A Forever Foster animal is one that, due to age, medical issues, or behavioral modifications, may not be suitable for traditional adoption. Instead, they thrive in the care of a loving foster family who can provide them with the comfort and stability of a permanent home.

How Does It Work?

As a Forever Foster, you'll open your heart and home to an animal in need, while the QCAWC takes care of veterinary care, training if needed, prescription diet foods, and prescription medications. Items such as regular pet food, litter, toys and other standard pet care items are not typically covered. You’ll be the constant in their lives, offering them the companionship and security they deserve.
